In last week’s blog post, we learned about who Jesus is. If you missed it, you can check here. Let’s refresh our memories briefly, we learned that Jesus is the Son of God but was also God’s physical body when He was on earth. Now, some of us might be wondering, “Why did Jesus come on earth?” Well in this week’s blog post, we’ll learn all about it.
Let’s refresh our memories briefly about the beginning of times. So, God created the heavens and earth, check the first chapter of “Genesis” from the book called “Bible” to get all the details. Then, God created man from His image and likeness. God gave man authority over animals and plants. But God forbid man from eating one particular fruit. Man disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit. From there on, man was cursed and the destruction of humanity started.
Then, God gave man a second chance by sending JESUS on earth as human who is also God since Jesus and God are ONE. God decided to send Jesus on earth to be the PERFECT example of how human beings should live. So Jesus is the savior of the world. He is the Messiah, the light and the truth. He came to save humanity from perishing. Let’s look at some scriptures from the book called “Bible” that talks about Jesus’ purpose on earth.
Luke 5:32 “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” NIV
John 3: 17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” NIV
John 12: 46 “I have come to the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. ” NIV
John 10: 10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” NIV
Next time we’re wondering why Jesus came to earth. Let’s remember He came for ALL of us sinners. He came to call us to repentance, meaning to turn away from our bad ways. He came to bring light into the world, but those who refuse Him will have darkness. He came to save us from drowning in our sins so we won’t be condemned. He came to give us life to the fullest. And He came to show and teach us how to live the life our Father God created for us to live in.
